The massage room did not have a door on it, only a half curtain, so you could hear a nearby phone ring and any talking in other rooms. The base of my neck is also very sore from too much pressure. The hole in the massage table was uncomfortable - my husband said his forehead hurt and my chin hurt, so much so that a few days later, it's still sore. We both found the massage to be pretty torturous and the techs did not speak very good English, so it was difficult to communicate. In other spas, I'm used to a tech quietly and respectfully approaching me to say my treatment room is ready. When we were called for our massage, they called "NUMBER ONE", not by our names, loudly across the common area. MASSAGE WAS PAINFUL AND A GENERALLY ODD EXPERIENCE. Every other spa I've been to provided clean spa slippers to every customer. There was a rack of flip flops provided to go into the restaurant, but I didn't get the impression they were probably cleaned much. Walking on the same wet and dry surfaces as everyone else's bare feet made me very uneasy as I am concerned about picking up fungus, athletes foot or plantar warts. I'm very particular about my feet and don't even go barefoot at home except in the shower. You cannot use your own flip flops and there are no spa slippers provided. After you leave the lobby, you are only allowed bare feet throughout. (I did, and I'm glad).īARE FEET ONLY THROUGHOUT THE SPA. I think this is their way of keeping costs down. It's standard to have unlimited towels in the locker room/wet area at all other day spas I've been to. My husband had to put his spa uniform back on and go out to the lobby to attain another towel. After being in the 'wet' area, the large towel was soaking and no other towels were available in the locker room. LIMITED TOWELS! Upon check-in we were given one body towel (Not a large bath sheet towel or beach size towel by any means) and 2 hand/hair size towels. These were to last the entire visit. The spa is located in a strip mall and there was plenty of parking the day we went. No spa slippers were provided or allowed except for entering the restaurant.ĪMENITIES IN THE LOCKER ROOMS: Limited amenities available for use in the locker rooms like hair dryers and cotton ear buds.įREE PARKING. You can go into the restaurant in your spa uniform. The material is thick enough that there is no 'show through'. A pair of baggy culottes and a cross-tie top were provided that you wear in the dry rooms and common area. However, one man in the red clay sauna was sat reading an electronic tablet and then his cell phone rang loudly and he proceeded to answer it and carry on a conversation for about a minute before finally leaving the sauna. I will say the spa was generally quiet and most people respected the signs on the walls that requested you keep your voices low. You're only allowed to bring your own water into the spa. There is a door that connects the spa with a casual 'Brick Bowl' restaurant that sells bowls and smoothies and other drinks, ideal for lunch. A fairly unique day spa offering, located in San Diego's Asian district about 15 minutes from downtown. I rate it a 5 for cleanliness and variety of treatments/rooms, but in other areas it's lacking. Due to the reasons written below, we found this day spa to generally be a bit of an odd, uncomfortable experience and would not go back. As of Dec 2018, we paid $100 each (plus tip) for an hour massage and entry to all the wet and dry rooms, the use of a locker and spa uniform.
